THE BMW 8 SERIES CONVERTIBLE M MODELS.

The latest version of the M TwinPower Turbo V8-cylinder petrol engine guarantees performance in keeping with the latest standards. The high-revving unit develops an output of 460 kW (625 hp). The two turbochargers stand out thanks to their cross-cylinder bank exhaust manifold with optimum response characteristics. The V8 engine is also designed for extreme loads on the race track.

The 8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: from extremely dynamic to particularly comfortable. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or put the vehicle into automatic mode and let the transmission do the work.

The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power even more directly. The brake is non-corrosive and tolerates even more heat. It impresses with extremely minimal wear and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The special technical equipment is visible through calipers in the colour Gold matt with M logo on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. This design-related noise generation can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt, e.g. after using car washes, dew overnight, driving in the rain, etc., the braking effect can correspond to that of a conventional braking system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake.

Two turbochargers, fully variable Valvetronic valve control and high precision injection petrol direct injection ensure outstanding performance.

The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system smoothly and variably distributes drive power to the front and rear wheels for added traction and driving dynamics in different driving situations. 

Integral Active Steering combines support that varies based on the steering angle on the front axle, and rear wheels that also contribute to steering. At lower speeds, it offers greater manoeuvrability and agility by turning the rear wheels opposite the front wheels. Beginning around 37 to 49 mph, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels, to increase driving stability and comfort.

The BMW Individual soft-top in Marine Blue blends harmoniously into the dynamic lines of the vehicle and can be ordered via BMW Individual Manufaktur. One of the outstanding properties of this high-quality soft-top is its excellent noise insulation.

The M specific instrument cluster allows you to display additional information for particularly sporty driving. If you have selected the TRACK driving mode* for race track use, you can view the boost pressure, tyre pressures and temperatures as well as the G-force of lateral and longitudinal acceleration on the instrument cluster.

M Setup* allows you to configure various driving dynamics parameters such as engine, transmission and steering characteristics, damper settings, DSC control intensity or the power distribution of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system according to your individual requirements. * Available for the BMW M8 Competition Convertible.

The M specific Head-up display* with configurable contents focuses on information relevant for sporty driving, such as the revolution counter with pre-warning range and shift lights, as well as the gear indicator. * Available for the BMW M8 Competition Convertible.
